FAQs
How does it work?
Botulinum toxin just relaxes muscles. Specifically, it dissolves the proteins on muscles that allow muscle contraction. This will make your skin stop folding causing lines or creases.
Common areas to treat with botulinum toxin are the frown lines (or 11’s), forehead, crow’s feet (around the eyes), and chin muscles (causing dimples on the chin). The masseter muscles can also be treated for jaw clenching or teeth grinding, or for facial slimming.
It takes about 2 weeks for a treatment to kick in fully, then you’ll have the maximum effect for 2-4 weeks. The effect gradually wears off between 2-5 months because your muscles regrow new proteins and resume movement. Jen recommends repeating treatment every 3-5 months.
What are the side effects?
If muscles are affected that were not the intended target, they will be relaxed as well. For example, when treating the forehead or frown lines, it is possible to accidentally affect the eyelid, causing a droop. This is rare, but able to be treated, and always temporary. If you ever think you’re having a complication, you should call Jen directly at 603-460-5706.
Is it dangerous?
Botox is the second most researched medication in history, and its safety is well established. Side effects are rare and always temporary.
(Want to know what the #1 most researched medication is? Viagra! Go figure.)
What is the downtime?
Immediately after your treatment, you’ll have little red bumps that last about 5 minutes. After that you’ll look completely normal. There is no down time.
What does it cost?
We charge $14 per unit. The total cost depends on the number of units required, which is determined by which areas are being treated and your unique anatomy. For example, treatment of the frown lines (aka the 11's) is usually around 20 units, or $280.
